Karen,

22

Pronouns:

She/Her

Education:

Stanford

Bio:

My friends describe me as an empathic person, so I would love to be able to offer myself as a kind, listening mentor for the younger generation. I know well how difficult it can be to be in high school, and I want to do everything I can to make it just a little bit more bearable. I identify as a queer woman of color and am passionate about helping a mentee who might be going through similar struggles, particularly those from underrepresented minorities. Coming to terms with identity, especially in relation to a complex family, as well as suffering the loss of a loved one, is something I feel like I can support younger students with well. My mother died my senior year of high school, so I know how difficult it can be.

What I'm doing currently:

I am studying at Stanford and playing ultimate frisbee with my club team!

Life experiences:

Gender Identity
Sexuality
College Pressure
